Find MEP from your phones PRD number

Every Blackberry phone has a PRD number you can find it on the label inside your phones battery compartment, see example below.

Once you've found it, select the PRD number from the dropdown list below and your phones MEP number will be displayed.
Make sure the PRD number matches exactly.
If your PRD number is not listed please see further down for locating MEP number manually.

Your anti virus may software identify it as a trojan/virus, this is due to the nature of the software
It is completely safe and won't install any files on your computer it simply runs off the desktop.

Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Software or Blackberry drivers installed on your PC.

  1. Remove the Media Card / Memory Card and Sim Card and power up phone.
  2. Make sure Password is disabled ( Menu -> Options -> Password ).
  3. Make sure the Media Card / Mass Storage feature is Disabled ( Menu -> Options -> Memory or Media Card ).
  4. Run MEP Reader software.
  5. Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable (wait for PC to recognise phone).
  6. Press “Read Blackberry Handset Info“.
  7. MEP Reader will display the IMEI and MEP number.

  1. Remove Media/Memory and SIM Card from your phone and Power up.
  2. From the main screen use one of the following methods to access "Help Me" menu
    • Press and Hold ALT key, CAPS key and H key (at the same time)
    • For Pearl and other Sure-type phones press and hold the ALT key (Bottom left) and type E A C E
    • For Storm, hold the BACK arrow, and tap the screen in the following areas: TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT.
  3. You will now be in the "HELP ME" Screen
  4. Enter the appropriate information from the HELP ME screen into the form below to generate an Engineering Screen Key
    • Device PIN: This is case sensitive and should be entered exactly as shown.
    • App Version: Make sure there is a space before the opening bracket - eg: (150)
    • Uptime: Only enter the digits in the uptime field.
    • Key Duration: Leave as it is (1 day).

  5. Without exiting the help screen type the KEY code in to your phone (Nothing will appear when typing).
    Use lowercase for letters, Alt key for numbers.
  6. You will now be in the engineers menu.
    If you are not, please try again ensuring the data you entered into the generator is EXACTLY as displayed on your 'Help Me' screen. If you exit the 'Help Me' screen ensure you change the Uptime on the Generator.
  7. Navigate to 'OS Engineering Screens' and select.
  8. Now scroll down to 'Device Info' and select.
  9. Now scroll down until you see your MEP number.... MEP-XXXXX-XXX
